COVID-19 (Coronavirus) latest updates

The following information is current as at Wednesday 25 March 2020. We will update this page with any new developments when available.

Like many New Zealand businesses, Auckland Loans (Loansmart Limited) is adapting rapidly as the impact of COVID-19 unfolds throughout the country. We’ve set up our staff to work remotely, and we are continually monitoring the latest information from the Government. We are making changes within our business operations to help our clients through this difficult time.

New Loan Applicants

As Auckland Loans (Loansmart Limited) offers a completely online loan solution from application to payout we will not require you to visit our office as we do not require face to face meetings with our customers. We do not anticipate any disruption to our normal service and will continue to prioritise getting your funds to you as quickly as possible. Existing Loans – Unforeseen Hardship

If your circumstances change in the coming weeks due to the COVID-19 situation and you are concerned you may not be able to make repayment(s) to your loan, or you are experiencing unforeseen hardship, please contact our customer service team as soon as possible on 0800 323 130, or email us at loans@aucklandloans.co.nz (please remember to include your loan contract number).

What happens if you suffer unforeseen hardship?

If you are unable to keep up your payments on your loan because of illness, injury, loss of employment, the end of a relationship, or any other reasonable cause such as the COVID-19 virus, you may be able to ask us to vary the terms of your Loan Agreement with us. To apply for a Variation, you need to do the following:

  1. Make an application in writing setting out the circumstances of your request.
  2. Make a request for one of the following:
    • an extension of the term of your Loan Agreement – this means we would reduce the amount due on each payment date and increase the number of payments; or
    • A postponement of certain payments.
    • Both of the above.
  3. Send the application to us. You may phone us to discuss on 0800 323 130 but we will ask you to follow up in writing by letter or email.

Please note you must do this as soon as possible. If you delay for too long in making an application, or do not meet the criteria, we may not have to consider your request. If we agree to your requests, we may ask you to enter into a new agreement or we may change the terms of your existing Loan Agreement with us to help you meet your obligations.
